Requis Technologies Selected to Build the UK’s Largest Decarbonization Project

Requis Group’s e-procurement platform will manage the construction of the largest bioenergy carbon capture and storage (BECCS) project at the Drax Group’s North Yorkshire power facility.

  • Requis’ supply-chain platform and digital solutions will fully automate and integrate all supply-chain processes and services to construct Drax’s BECCS project.
  • Worley has the services contract and is the EPC partner for the £2-billion BECCS project.
  • Construction is forecast to start in 2024 and create 10,000 jobs across the region.

(The Woodlands) Requis’ e-procurement platform will provide all supply chain management and procurement services to construct the Drax BECCS facility. The new units will incorporate Drax’s negative-emissions technology, combining renewable electricity generated from biomass and CCS. Once operational, the North Yorkshire BECCS facility will be the world’s largest CCS operation and remove 8 million tons of CO2 annually from the atmosphere.

Requis’ Enterprise Cloud Platform will fully integrate the BECCS project supply chain processes in a secure and transparent environment. On the Requis platform, all suppliers must bid against the normalized pricing sheet. This method streamlines the overall RFQ process flow for all suppliers regardless of company size.

“Requis’ Enterprise Cloud technologies onboard and facilitate supplier capability reviews in one platform. Accordingly, Drax, Worley, and the Requis team can collaborate seamlessly. More importantly, all suppliers will have live support and webinar training through the Requis platform.” —Loic Coyot, Business Operations Director of Requis.

By eliminating paper and manual processes, supply-chain managers, contractors, suppliers, and project managers can access real-time information on a single online platform. More importantly, transparency of bids and accurate inventory improves communication with suppliers and contractors, thereby minimizing project delays and risks.

Under a Drax directive, 80% of the construction materials and services will be sourced from British businesses. In preparation for contracts, Drax and Worley conducted several “meet the engineers” events with local businesses on how to get involved in this project. Because it’s free to sign on to Requis, it’s a low barrier to entry experience for suppliers and service enterprises.

Worley is prequalifying suppliers/contractors for upcoming work through the Requis platform. Companies desiring to participate in the Drax BECCS project must register to receive a Request for Expression on Interest (RFEI). Interested businesses can obtain more information now.
