Requis Partners with Oilfield Helping Hands to Assist Families in Crisis

Requis is proud to announce that we have become a Silver Sponsor of Oilfield Helping Hands (OHH).

The registered charity aids oilfield families in financial need through no fault of their own. Since 2003, the organization has provided more than $5.3 million to industry workers and their families struck by tragedy. OHH has helped these families get through crises brought on by medical situations, death of a partner, job loss, and natural disasters.

“Our organization relies heavily on the support of companies like Requis stepping up to support our mission,” said Gene Pate, OHH Chairman of the Board. “Corporate members are our foundation and because of their generosity, we have been able to help countless oilfield families.”

Requis CEO Richard Martin said, “It’s a privilege to contribute to such a worthy cause. Anyone can fall on hard times, and having a hand up can make a huge difference.”

Here are just two of the many people that OHH has helped.

Jeff Pursley’s story

When Jeff Pursley’s wife died, he was left with three children to care for. Despite his job working on a Rowan derrick, there were too many bills to pay.

Betty Quinlan’s story

Betty Quinlan had won a new job after having been laid off after 30+ years working for various oil companies. Things were looking up until she was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2015.

While recipients can apply themselves, many are referred by friends or coworkers. In order to qualify for financial assistance from OHH, applicants must meet the charity’s criteria.

OHH has three active chapters, one in Houston, one in the Permian Basin area, and one in the Rocky Mountain region. There are many ways that anyone can get involved to help families in need:
